Botox & Dysport
All the neuromodulators we use are FDA approved and have been safely used since 2002 by temporarily relaxing certain targeted muscle groups. Botox and Dysport are the most commonly performed minimally invasive facial rejuvenation procedure in the U.S and one of our most requested treatments to erase frown lines, forehead wrinkles, and crow’s feet. Injection results typically last 3-6 months at which point it is broken down by the body and excreted. You will love the smooth appearance these products create!
Treatment
It’s temporary. Typically you will need injections every 3-4 months.
It’s safe. It’s extremely rare to see a complication from Botox that has been related to distant spread effect (affecting a distant muscle) when given at the proper dosage. Choose an injector who has been extensively trained, such as the ones at Solutions Medical Center. This will determine the result and aftercare of your treatment.
It’s not necessary to look frozen. Small doses at just the right time will create a soft, animated look. There is no need to relax the muscles to the point of no movement. The purpose is to relax the muscle so its movement doesn’t create a wrinkle in motion, which can then turn into a wrinkle at rest.
Botox is given with the tiniest of needles. While bruising can happen, as with any injection, it usually lasts a only a few days up to two weeks. Bruising may appear immediately or a day or two after your treatment, depending on the patient's physical predispositions and activities.
Botox is often combined with other cosmetic skin procedures as part of a customized treatment plan. Chemical peels, dermal fillers, laser treatments, or microdermabrasion can further improve your results and help prevent new lines and wrinkles.
Don’t always choose the cheapest fee. Keep in mind that Botox has to be diluted to make it injectable, so find out the concentration your injector uses and their qualifications.
Results
Results begin to be noticeable in a few days but can take up to 14 days to see the full effect. Results typically last 3-4 months.
Recovery
Procedures generally last around 15 minutes. You can get back to your routine immediately.
Post Instructions
Do NOT manipulate, rub, or massage the injected areas, as the Botox can spread to another area of your face and cause temporary facial weakness or drooping.
Do NOT receive facials, laser treatments, or microdermabrasion immediately after receiving Botox injections for at least 2-3 days. Ask your provider if you are not sure about the time frame of certain services.
Do NOT lie down for 4 hours after your Botox treatment.
It can take several days for results to be seen (up to 14 days). If the desired result is not seen after 2 weeks of your treatment you may need additional Botox.
Do NOT perform activities involving straining, heavy lifting, or vigorous exercise for 6 hours after treatment.
Dermal Fillers
Filler is a valuable non-surgical tool used to restore youthful fullness and shape that is lost as we age. Common patient concerns such as jowls, smokers lines around the mouth, and frown lines are results of the aging process, specifically volume loss. Our office has chosen to use fillers that contain Hyaluronic Acid, a substance that already exists in our bodies which produce natural, lasting results that last up to two years.
Treatment
Dermal fillers are different than Botox or Dysport injections. Both help improve the appearance of wrinkles and give your face a more youthful, relaxed look, but fillers are designed to plump and smooth — not prevent the muscles from contracting, like Neuromodulators. Each filler has its own personality, meaning your injector should choose a certain filler based on how your skin and face are aging. All our nurses and nurse practitioner injectors are highly trained in advanced dermal filler techniques. Before a treatment, you will receive a consultation where your injector will determine the best dermal filler for you and your goals. After your consultation, you will know what product we recommend, how many syringes of filler it will take to achieve your goals, and how much your treatment will cost.
Results
There is a variable range of how long the fillers last, depending on the specific type of filler used and how quickly your body metabolizes them. Certain fillers can last between 6 months to 1 year while others can last up to 2 or 3 years. Once your body metabolizes fillers, they are naturally eliminated and your face returns to its pre-injection appearance. The lifespan of the filler that is right for you will be determined during your filler treatment consultation.
Post Instructions
You can apply ice packs or cold compresses to the injection area after treatment to help reduce swelling. Be sure not to push on injection areas too hard. If swelling or redness persists past 72 hours, please contact our office at 901-853-6428.
It is normal to feel a “firmness” in your injection site for the first few days after your treatment. Over time, the area will soften and leave you with a soft natural look.
Many patients return to their normal routine/activities immediately after the injection, but you should check with our clinic if you have any concerns.
Makeup may be applied shortly after treatment if no complications are present. Apply makeup gently to avoid strenuous rubbing of the injection area. The injection area may also be gently washed a few hours after treatment, avoiding aggressive scrubbing.
Sunbathing or excessive UV exposure should be avoided until redness or swelling has subsided.
You may take acetaminophen/Tylenol if you experience any mild tenderness or discomfort. AVOID aspirin or ibuprofen products as they may increase your potential to bruise.
Immediately report any worsening or persistent symptoms/side effects to our clinic by calling 901-853-6428.
Kybella
Treatment
Kybella is the first and only FDA approved naturally occurring injectable, deoxycholic acid, for submental fullness. Kybella contours and improves the appearance of the double chin or turkey neck–however you affectionately refer to it. Once injected, Kybella causes the permanent destruction of the fat cells.
The best candidate is someone who is less than 50 years of age and has good skin elasticity.
The amount of product needed depends on the amount of fat under the chin — it will vary according to the patient.
Kybella requires multiple injections to the site with a tiny needle. The injection process takes about 15-20 minutes.
Typically, 1-3 treatment sessions are required, 4-8 weeks apart.
Results
Truly a game changer, many clients are preferring Kybella over a long considered neck lift. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat which means once you achieve your desired result it is permanent. Kybella eliminates the fat beneath your chin leaving behind a much more defined and structured profile. Once the fat is destroyed, it will not come back into the treated area again, so it lasts a lifetime.
Recovery
Results are gradual and natural appearing. Immediately following the treatment you may experience a slight burning sensation and localized swelling. The swelling and “heavy feeling” will continue throughout the next few days. Most patients report any noticeable swelling was gone after the first 4-5 days. The process is continuing to work and blast away fat over the next 4 months.
Post Instructions
Ice. Use a small bag of frozen pees in a sandwich bag or crushed ice to gently ice the area. Please do not use heavy ice bags. Ice for 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off. Continue the icing for 48 hours if possible.
We recommend no strenuous exercise for 48 hours in order to reduce swelling and bruising.
Do not massage or manipulate the treated area which will be quite swollen after Kybella injections. You may shower and wash your face with gentle cleanser. Avoid facials, chemical peels or laser treatments on the treated area for 14 days.
You can use makeup, moisturizers and sunscreen the next day after your injections to cover up any bruising.
Arnica cream can quickly help reduce appearance of bruises.
For the first 2-3 days sleeping with your head propped up on 2-3 pillows can help minimize swelling under the chin area. Swelling should begin to improve after about 48 hours.
The first few days after your treatment the treated area will be swollen, it will take weeks before the the fat melt results with start to be noticeable. We recommend not over-evaluating results until completing your course of treatment.
It is normal to experience some pain and sensitivity in the area of the injection. Most patients find that Tylenol can help relieve this post-injection pain. Avoid NSAIDs such as Motrin and ibuprofen as these can make swelling and bruising worse.
